Competition Details
There will be 4 people in a team for GalACSy 2014.
The syllabus for GalACSy 2014 will be uploaded on the Archive page.

There will be three Preliminary Rounds before the three Final Rounds.
Preliminary Rounds:
- The MCQ Round
This round will consist of 40% of the Preliminary Rounds. All questions will be in the format of multiple choice questions. Average of the group of students will be considered.
- The Data Response Round
This round will consist of 40% of the Preliminary Round. A number of mathematically rigorous questions will be given to you and you are required to work together as a team to answer all of them in the given time. 1 score will be noted per team.
- The Observation Round
This round will consist of 20% of the Preliminary Round. The night sky will be projected on to a screen, and the participants are required to answer questions based on the night sky that is projected. More details will be disclosed on the day. We suggest that participants be familiar with Stellarium. 1 score will be noted per team.
From these three Preliminary Rounds we will choose the top four teams who are entering the Final Rounds.
Please note that only 1 team from each school may be represented at the finals, and switching members within the school for the finals is not allowed.
Final Rounds:
- Buzzer Round (40%)
This round will be similar to a normal buzzer round, where speed and accuracy will play important roles.
- DIY Round (30%)
This is a very interesting round special to GalACSy. The team will be challenged (on the day) to build a particular structure that will fufill the requirements.
- Mystery Round (30%)
The details for this round will only be released on the day of the competition.
Overall
The overall champion of GalACSy 2014 will be determined based on the results from BOTH the preliminary rounds (50%) and the final rounds (50%).
All scores will be counted as a fraction of the top scoring team.
